A semi-unknown father and his past, both to be discovered. Terrorism set in 1970s Turin.
A young woman, lonely and in love with literature, writes the chronicle of her fight with her father’s death: the two had shared a happy relationship during her childhood, a hard one during her teenage years. But now that the man is dead too many questions are unanswered: who was the young doctor-worker who always sided with the poor, who always had someone to save, who was sentenced to jail for taking part in an armed band? And why did he never tell his daughter about those years? Lawyers, old far-leftwinged militants, archives and trial accounts are voices that make up the portrait of a complex and contradictory man, a witness and protagonist of a complex and contradictory time. In the background, Turin, city of rage, pain, and hope, a backdrop of violence that generated deception and ruins.
The novel of a man, his families and his choices, retold with love and rage.

IL SORRISO DI CATERINA, LA MADRE DI LEONARDO (ENGLISH TITLE: THE SMILE OF CATERINA, MOTHER OF LEONARDO) |
 |
Professor Vecce has brought sensitivity and respect to Caterina’s life in a story that gallops across the page on the energy of his immense historical research and results in a compelling novel that reads like a story from the Arabian Nights or the Travels of Marco Polo, all the while granting us detailed insight into the mother of one of the greatest minds of all time, Leonardo da Vinci.
Professor Vecce is a historian who has been researching Leonardo da Vinci for many years. When he recently found evidence in the archives that suggested Caterina to be Leonardo’s mother, Professor Vecce felt compelled to tell her story first in a novel because the findings are immense: Caterina was from Circassia, and was brought to Italy by way of the Sea of Azov, the Black Sea, and Constantinople, to Venice, where women from Circassia were brought work on the production of brocade. She was a slave, a woman whose life, possessions, voice, and liberty were taken from her. The author saw so many parallels to our modern-day plight of slaves and international refugees that his desire to allow this woman to be known and to become immediately human in our eyes overcame even his instincts as a historian (nb, his scientific article was published on 30/10/23; his non-fiction title, The Life of Leonardo will be published by Giunti in April 2024.)

ISTELLA MEA |

A fascinating, evil woman capable of devouring both darkness and light, and a young woman who has only on the power of love, engaged in a battle that lasts a lifetime.
A deep affection between a young man capable of flight and a young woman with the light of purity in her eyes.
An extraordinary, original novel, filled with thrilling adventures and magical events.
Certain encounters have the power to change the course of our lives forever. For Rechella, a child in Nuoro in the early 1960s, the encounter is with Martino and the grandmother who takes him in after he has been abandoned by his parents. Martino is a boy with a fervent imagination, filled with visions so powerful that they allow him to take flight: he is able to see beyond, where the clouds become stormy seas navigated by pirate ships. But even more particular is his grandmother, Jaja, a woman both respected and feared: she is capable of opening passages in time and space, of telling stories that come alive, of knowing the life secrets of others and molding them as she does the herbs in her kitchen. Rechella is both in love with Martino and fascinated by Jaja, until a terrible tragedy forces her to see: Jaja is a sùrbile, a woman who absorbs the energy of those she loves most to increase her own immense vitality.
Rechella has only one choice for survival: she must leave, she must go out into the world. Her journey will introduce her to other extraordinary characters who will accompany her on the long search for the indelible light that not even the power of the sùrbile can destroy.

 |
How to live Felix and Feline.
Cats, as we know, have many lives. We are fortunate in that they give us companionship, and, in this book, their precious suggestions on how to live a happy and cat-like life.
The eyes of a cat are portals to an enchanted world, hidden behind their velvety eyelashes. Cats have been watching us for centuries, and while we humans struggle to understand the meaning of life, cats seem to have all the answers. Here, finally, our wise and furry companions are ready to share their secrets on how to live an enjoyable and fulfilling life.
Vita Felix is a distillation of their instinctual wisdom, rich with advice culled from their many lives in which we see how they are resilient and capable of adapting. As hunters who also happen to be very introspective, as well as great observers, they have a lot to teach us.
They do so beginning with their basic but very important credo: that life is something that happens between naps. A must-read for all cat lovers,

WILD SWIMMING |
 |
英文简介: “For a brief instant I felt in my body, although not yet in my mind, that between the past and the present there was a continuity that surpassed every fractured connection in my life, and this continuity was water.”
Two days after meeting via a dating app, J. and the protagonist of this novel meet on the platform of a London train station. They know little about each other, but they have exchanged photos of their bookshelves at home, letting their literary tastes speak for themselves. The attraction between them is immediate, the intimacy of their bodies comes quickly, well before the intimacy of their minds.
J. is from Canada and has a partner with whom she is in a nonmonogamous relationship. She is running away from a memory that is difficult for her even to discuss. The narrator grew up in a small town in the Veneto region of Italy, but has lived in various European cities since she was eighteen, her sense of euphoria of living in new places alternating
with a sense of uprootedness. Together they find the courage to dive into the unprotected waters of desire and pain, wild swimming through their memories until each finds the words with which to tell her own story.

THE MIRACLE BOOK: A SIMPLE GUIDE TO ASKING FOR THE IMPOSSIBLE |
 |
At some point everyone needs a miracle. The miracle might have to do with our health or our finances or our families or our feelings of anxiety or hopelessness. But regardless of our level of religious faith, there comes a time in life when all of us experience the need for supernatural help. Many books have been written on miracles before. But very few explain in clear, practical, theologically sound language how to pray for one.
So many people in the world are suffering but don’t know how to go about asking God for help in a way that He will respond affirmatively. They beg God, plead with Him, negotiate with Him, and promise they will change their ways if only He will grant them this one request. Then, if God fails to answer their prayer, they lose faith or get angry at God or become anxiety-ridden and sink into despair.
There must be a better way. There must be a method of praying for a miracle that guarantees the best possible chance of God saying yes to us, or at least results in God giving us an answer that alleviates our stress and satisfies our souls.
The Miracle Book explains that method, and in the process, demonstrates exactly how God can help us to overcome our fears and experience a “peace that transcends all understanding.”
For anyone who needs a miracle right now, this is the book for them.
