About the Author/作者介绍： 卡洛斯‧富安蒂斯（Carlos Fuentes, 1928 -）與馬奎斯同年生，在世界文壇的地位也與馬奎斯齊名，同屬拉丁美洲文學爆炸時期（Boom，1940-1975）的重量級作家。 這位1928年生於墨西哥的小說家，與馬奎斯、尤薩（Mario Vargas Llosa）、阿根廷的柯達薩（Julio Cortazar）四人，被譽為拉美文壇四巨頭，同屬魔幻寫實文學的大師。
富安蒂斯與前述其他文學界的三巨頭相同，對古巴革命與卡斯楚，有著中南美洲共同的民族情感和認同，並且刻意想與英語系作家區隔開來。富安蒂斯的創作尤其對墨西哥文化認同與殖民歷史著墨甚深。
