AS CLOSE TO US AS BREATHING: A NOVEL

Book ID/图书代码: 12844015B79839

English Summary/英文概要: ’The summer of 1948 my brother Davy was killed in an accident with a man who would have given his life rather than have it happen…’

And so begins Elizabeth Poliner’s heart-wrenching meditation on grief, guilt, and the boundaries of love, in her debut novel AS CLOSE TO US AS BREATHING. Uncovering the ways in which family members struggle to understand one another in the face of loss, Poliner delivers a multigenerational family saga that begins with a tragic accident in the summer of 1948, the impact of which unfolds across decades.

This gorgeous, layered novel has already received an endorsement from Elizabeth’s mentor Edward P. Jones, who was her first reader.
