About the Author/作者介绍： 莫妮卡•休斯女士(1925 - 2003)是加拿大家喻户晓的童书大师，在世界文坛上享有极高的声誉！在她29年的写作生涯里，她一共出版了将近40本童书，包含多本短篇小说以及数十篇文章。尽管以撰写青少年奇幻小说和科幻小说而著称，休斯女士还编写了青少年冒险故事等题材的书籍, 包括她与加拿大联合国儿童基金会合著的《一把故乡的种子》。

A writer of international acclaim, Monica Hughes (1925-2003) published over 35 books and many more short stories and articles during her 29-year career. Although best known for her numerous forays into young adult fantasy and science fiction, Hughes also wrote adventure books and some children’s picture books, including her collaboration with UNICEF Canada, A Handful of Seeds.
She was often honoured for her works: Hunter in the Dark and Keeper of the Isis Light both won the Canada Council Children’s Literature Award. She was the recipient of the Vicky Metcalfe Award for a body of work, the Queen’s Jubilee Medal and the Order of Canada. Published in over ten languages, she also received international honours, including the Silver Feather Award and the Phoenix Award in 2000.
The Canadian Children’s Book Centre created the Monica Hughes Award for Science Fiction and Fantasy in 2011.
