Book ID/图书代码: 11701215B84001
English Summary/英文概要: An extraordinary memoir of a son’s search for his father and the return to a homeland he never thought he’d see again
Hisham Matar was nineteen when his father was kidnapped and taken to prison in Libya. He would never see him again. He still does not know for certain whether his father is alive or dead. Twenty years later, after the fall of Gaddafi, Hisham was able to go back to his homeland for the first time. In his heartbreaking, illuminating memoir he describes his return to a country and a family he thought he would never see again.
The Return is the story of three generations of a Libyan family. It is the story of how that family lived through war, dictatorship, exile and revolution and somehow survived. It is an extraordinary book.
