If you’re Florian Bates, you have to figure out a way to do both.
Florian is 12 years old and has just moved to Washington. He learns his way around using TOAST,
which stands for the Theory of All Small Things. It’s a technique he invented to solve life’s little
mysteries like: where to sit on the on the first day of school, or which Chinese restaurant is likely to
have the best eggrolls.
But when he teaches it to his new friend Margaret, they accidently uncover a mystery that isn’t so
little. In fact, it’s HUGE and involves the National Gallery, the FBI, and a notorious crime syndicate
known as Eel.
Now Florian has to get used to a new home, a new school, and a new covert identity. You know, to
make sure those Eel guys don’t show up looking for him in the cafeteria. The only way he can do it all is if he teams up with Margaret to
crack the case. They form Florian Bates investigations, which they dub the New FBI, and jump into a full throttle adventure that leaves them
undercover, overwhelmed, and right in the thick of things.

James Ponti was born in Italy, raised in Florida, and went to college in California.
