Never Alone is set on an isolated farmhouse in North Yorkshire, where Sarah Carpenter is adjusting to life on her own. Her husband died some years ago, and her children have left home for university. When an old friend of her husband’s needs somewhere to stay, the cottage next door seems ideal, but not everyone is comfortable with the arrangement. With winter closing in, Sarah’s best friend and then her daughter go missing, and she finds herself in terrible danger, not knowing who to trust.

Under a Silent Moon, the first in Haynes’s Detective Inspector Louisa Smith series (Little, Brown), was published in 2014 and the second in the series, Behind Closed Doors, in 2015.
