Joshua Jones is at a crisis point in his life. Recently unemployed, his wife has just left him for another woman, and he’s just lost his flat in London. His mother has invited him round for lunch and he sets off to see her - but a chance encounter with a beguiling stranger called Angela triggers a course of surreal events that prevent him from ever arriving.
They spend their last pennies in a cafe and drawn together by their common plight they share an intense conversation and a lingering kiss when Angela abruptly walks out of the cafe. She throws Joshua one last look and quite deliberately steps off the pavement into the path of a passing bus.
As paramedics rush to help Angela, Josh inexplicably pretends that he is her boyfriend and from that simple lie onwards their fates become intertwined. As she lies in a coma he tries to find out who she really is and why she wanted to commit suicide. Soon he realizes he is being followed, he finds a mysterious box which he can’t open and an anarchist called Mikey seems intent on killing him. About the Author/作者介绍： Danny Scheinmann 出生于曼彻斯特，曾于伦敦经济学院攻读法律，并于斯特拉斯堡大学攻读戏剧研究，在那里，他接触到印度神话，激起了他创作小说的兴趣。在从事新闻业一段时间后，他开设了一家小说创作戏剧公司，创作了许多传统戏剧、电视和电影。此外，他也是Lost Child项目的一员，该项目在马尼拉、波哥大等地建造儿童剧院。他的第一部小说《英雄主义爱情的随意行为》曾一度成为英国畅销小说，并在21个国家出版。
Danny Scheinmann was born in Manchester. He studied Law at the London School of Economics and Theatre Studies at the University of Strasbourg, where he was introduced to the Hindu epic, The Mahabharata, which would spur his lifetime obsession with storytelling. After a brief foray in to journalism, he set up a storytelling theatre company, which led to more conventional theatre, TV and film, including The West Wittering Affair and The Divorce. He was part of the David Glass Ensemble’s Lost Child project, which created theatre with children in Manila, Bogota and Pnomh Penh.
His debut novel Random Acts of Heroic Love was a UK bestseller and has been published in 21 countries.
