The photos and the interview sparked an outpouring of emotional responses, mostly on social media, with many people commenting on the unique interplay of the two perspectives.

Born in Scotland, Graham MacIndoe studied painting at Edinburgh College of Art and went on to earn a master’s degree in photography at the Royal College of Art in London, specializing in portrait photography He has taught photography at Parsons The New School’s department of art, media and technology in New York City.
