English Summary/英文概要： Alleged serial killer Lonnie Franklin Jr., aka The Grim Sleeper, lived in South Central Los Angeles in the same neighborhood where his victims were found. He was a husband, a father and neighborhood fixture. The victims were all women, mostly prostitutes or drug addicts discarded like trash (that Franklin had been a sanitation worker makes this all the more chilling), during a time when the city was overrun with crime and racial strife. Franklin is currently charged with 10 murders, but investigators think he is responsible for at least 20 more.
Attached is Christine’s proposal for the book on the case, chronicling the stranger than fiction tale from the beginning. Lonnie Franklin Jr.’s trial has just started and Christine will be covering it for People Magazine, helping to bring national awareness to the story. There’s both an HBO documentary and Lifetime movie that cover different aspects of the story. This is the only book on this case and absolutely no one is better suited to tell it. Christine has exclusive access to the LAPD detectives who finally caught Franklin using controversial and costly familial DNA, autopsy reports, and case files. She has kept tabs on the twists of the case – which have included the prison blocking a British actress obsessed with serial killers from talking to Franklin. She has also spent years tracking down the victim’s stories through their surviving friends and family.
