English Summary/英文概要: WINNER OF THE PRESTIGIOUS ERIC HOFFER AWARD. Live Without Stress: How to Enjoy the Journey is a comprehensive stress management book written in simple language demonstrating how to use some simple strategies to significantly reduce stress, promote responsibility, increase effectiveness, improve relationships, and truly enjoy life’s experiences. Whether stress stems from work, parenting, teaching, relationships, work, or a situation that cannot be changed, the book shows how the brain-body connection can be used to reduce and relieve stress. ***2017 Eric Hoffer Award Winner in US Review of Books: Live Without Stress, Dr. Marvin Marshall, Piper Press - This book is a fresh and innovating read that details the various ways individuals can improve their lives by shedding the psychologically debilitating exoskeleton of stress. Marshall states that people are affected by their mental states, and fear paralyzes and traps them in a self-imposed shell, one they perceive to be their armor or strength, but in reality it is an anchor weighing them down, miring them in misery. Despite the heavy subject matter, the writing is bright and lively, uplifting and nurturing, offering insights and shedding light into those dark corners of our fear where we seldom venture and, if trapped, never escape

Live Without Stress: How to Enjoy the Journey
--By Marvin Marshall
Thisbook is a probing examination of how to assess and dispense with the stressesof life.
Inthis comparatively short, accessible volume, Marshall takes aim at anomnipresent element of modern existence: stress.Innumerable studies have linked stress to a wide array of health problems, fromheart disease to ulcers to depression, and Marshall offers advice based on theidea that stress is largely a person’s own creation.
"Creatinggood habits takes time, patience and resolve, and you will inevitably encountersetbacks along the way," Marshall writes. "But the key is to never give up--andin a few short months, you may find yourself on the road to the way of life youtruly desire."
Asthe book unfolds its road map, it emphasizes three areas. The first areunrealistic or unhelpful assumptions that readers make, which can escalatestress levels. The second are physical aspects that are often key to managingstress--poor posture, poor eating and sleeping habits, lack of exercise, and soon. The third is the motivation of oneself and others.
Againand again, the author reiterates that people need not grant circumstances thepower to dictate responses--a very useful reminder. As in his other books,Marshall presents his precepts in clear, ringing prose that’s intent on encouragingrather than scolding.
Someof these precepts--such as that one should never give up or that one is the captainof one’s own ship--are on the platitudinous side, but they’re no less valuablefor that. Throughout his discussions, Marshall focuses on personalresponsibility--the choices that one makes to control one’s personal finances, one’s exercise routines, and the way that one frames how one interacts with theworld: "There is a problem when we think our responses are automaticallycontrolled by external stimuli."
Live WITHOUT STRESS contains awide-ranging and convincingly sympathetic approach to understanding and dealingwith all kinds of stress.
