THE SECOND DOG WAR: A NOVEL

A hospital manager who once fought corruption has now been corrupted himself. His love for his wife is so strong that he forces his secretary to go under the knife to look just like her. It’s not just the wife and the secretary who look alike. People in general start resembling each other. Some come to resemble the hospital manager himself, some pets start to resemble their owners, and some owners their pets. This is how the war starts, The Second Dog War. The terrifying atmosphere of the book is richly laced with black comedy.

This is the future, where the day ends in five hours, the environment is in decay, and humans are turning savage. Leaving the war behind, people of the earth depart to live on five planets. The native residents of the five planets agree to host these new refugees.

The novel predicts what humans are becoming because of their increased intolerance and fanaticism. Human beings have refused to accept others who are different, but will they accept others who are similar? The question that echoes throughout the novel remains unanswered: someone has to tell us what is it that humans really want?

Chinese Summary/

(LYR)
