    IN THE SCENE: ANG LEE

    Book ID/图书代码: 01068020C00001

English Summary/英文概要: Ang Lee came to the fore in the 1990s as one of the ‘second wave’ of Taiwanese directors. After studying at New York University, Lee directed three comedy-dramas – Pushing Hands, The Wedding Banquet, Eat Drink Man Woman. However, it was Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility which brought him both critical and commercial success. Then his triumphant return to the East with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon transformed him into an internationally renowned director. After a brief foray into the Marvel Universe with Hulk, it was his heart-breaking translation from page to screen of Brokeback Mountain which surprised critics and won him new fans. His film adaptation of Yann Martel’s Life of Pi gained new accolades and pushed the boundaries of CGI animation, while his love of innovation has continued in more recent films such as Gemini Man starring Will Smith.
