About the Author/作者介绍： JUDITH LOTHIAN, RN, PhD, LCCE, FACCE, is a childbirth educator in Brooklyn, NY,
and the Chair of the Lamaze Interational Certification Council. She is also an associate
professor in the College of Nursing at Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ, and a
regular columnist for The Journal of Perinatal Education. She is a respected writer and
speaker on issues related to pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding, and is a mother of
five and a grandmother of four.
CHARLOTTE DEVRIES is a former president of Lamaze International and currently a
board advisor. A longtime birth activist and journalist, she writes to remind women
that they need not surrender the birth experience to medicine. DeVries is also a
minister of worship at her local church in Northfield, MN. She is mother to three
grown children whose births were attended by a midwife.
