For nearly half a century Roger Duvoisin has entertained children all over the world with his amusing stories and endearing animal personalties such as Petunia, the silly goose, Veronica the friendly hippo, Jasmine the independent cow, and Crocus the not-so-sure-of-himself crocodile. Between 1936 and 1980 he wrote and illustrated more than forty children’s books and illustrated over one hundred classics, textbooks, and children’s books by scores of authors. His work was picked four times for the New York Times Best Illustrated Children’s Books of the Year,17 times for the American Institute of Graphic Arts Fifty Best Books of the Year,the Society of Illustrators Award,The Rutgers Award,the Hans Christian Anderson Medalrunner-up,Silver Medallion, and Kerlan Award.
