Book ID/图书代码: 04804006B03168

English Summary/英文概要: In a tiny Arctic hamlet, a teenager’s mangled body is found lying on the ice. Could a rapidly changing Arctic climate have driven polar bears, starving and afraid, this close to human habitation? By the time a fearsome six-day blizzard hits, the frightened villagers see polar bears in every shadow.
Ashley has a special bond with polar bears through her terrifying dreams of the shaman. She finds herself on the trail of Nanurluk, the legendary spirit bear who has helped her people for thousands of years. As she seeks to understand her spiritual connection to this majestic creature, Ashley’s inner and outer worlds are torn apart.
On Thin Ice is the story of a gifted northern youth struggling to find her true home in a fast-changing Arctic where culture, climate and environment seem to be crumbling all around her.
