About the Author/作者介绍： 马丁•加德纳（Martin Gardner，1914年10月21日—2010年05月22日），美国数学家和著名的数学科普作家。1936年毕业于芝加哥大学，学的专业是哲学。毕业后先当《民友报》记者，后来在芝加哥大学公众关系部工作。第二次世界大战爆发后，他在美国海军中担任随军记者，曾到过印度、菲律宾、东南亚、土耳其与中东、近东许多国家和地区，见闻甚广。战后，他开始了自由撰稿人的生涯。据不完全统计，已写了五十本以上的书，并曾多次获奖。他的肖像曾在《生活》杂志及《新利周报》上刊登过。

Martin Gardner was an American mathematics and science writer specializing in recreational mathematics, but with interests encompassing micromagic, stage magic, literature (especially the writings of Lewis Carroll), philosophy, scientific skepticism, and religion. He wrote the Mathematical Games column in Scientific American from 1956 to 1981, and published over 70 books.
