這是ㄧ本相當有趣的繪本，一頭熊在樹下看書，卻不斷的被打擾。首先登場的動物是狐狸，狐狸看到熊在看書，很好奇的問熊：你在做什麼呢? 熊回答：我在看書。狐狸又問了：你在看什麼書呢？熊說：我在看我今天該吃掉的動物名單。狐狸嚇了一跳，很想知道自己是不是也在名單上，膽顫心驚的問：我…也在名單上嗎?熊找了一下說：有的。狐狸很難過的說：那…我可不可以回去跟我的老婆跟小孩道別呢？熊說：可以。狐狸回家道別後，熊一口就把狐狸吃掉了。之後經過的動物都不斷的打斷他看書，每個動物都問相同的問題，都逃不了被吃掉的命運。最後豋場的是小白兔，他是怎麼樣避免被熊吃掉呢？
