English Summary/英文概要： In a decaying mission on the coast of the corrupt Central American Republic of Tecan ,the residing priest takes refuge in rum and mysticism while his colleague, a young American nun, claws at the edges of quiet despair.
Meanwhile a radar technician with drug problems is about to take up a post as deckhand on a motor boat that is far too powerful and well-equipped to be the shrimper it pretends to be; and Holliwell, and American anthropologist,approaches the delirium of panic as he reluctantly accepts a brief passed to him by sinister CIA contacts from his past.
Nothing in Tecan is as it seems, and as the protagonists nurse their collapsing delusions, they are caught up in aspiral of violence in which the lust for power, the hopes for revolution, and greed all lead inexorably towards the same electrifying end.

About the Author/作者介绍： ROBERT STONE is the author of six previous novels: A Hall of Mirrors, Dog Soldiers winner of the National Book Award), A Flag for Sunrise, Children of Light, Outerbridge Reach, and Damascus Gate. His story collection, Bear and His Daughter, was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. He won the Faulkner Award for A hall of Mirrors in 1967. He is also the author of Dog Soldiers,which received the National Book Award in 1975;A Flag For Sunrise, which won the Los Angeles Times Book Award and was nominated for the PEN/Faulkner Award in 1981.
