About the Author/作者介绍： Nicholas Shakespeare，1957年出生，父親擔任英國外交官。而Nicholas年輕時有機會跟著父親遊歷於亞洲及南非各地，從小見多識廣，也因此有靈感豐富的創作題材。其作品被翻譯高達20多國語言，其中《The Vision of Elena Silves》獲得英國毛姆文學獎的肯定，《樓上的舞者The Dancer Upstairs》1997年獲選美國圖書館協會評選該年度最佳小說，並在2001年由約翰馬可維奇 (John Malkovich)主演電影劇中男主角，近期作品《Secrets of the Sea》(以下另有簡介) 也廣受矚目。
