About the Author/作者介绍： 齊努亞．阿奇貝(Chinua Achebe)1930年出生於奈及利亞，一個具有深厚非洲鄉土文學傳統、擁有豐富民俗想像和儀式文明的國家。阿奇貝是非洲最具有代表性的作家之ㄧ，以深沉、生動的方式描寫屬於非洲的故事，探討非洲政治與殖民地社會的各項議題，且極為關注西方論述中的非洲形象。主張不能將非洲文學窄化，而是鼓勵以各式語言描寫關於非洲文化的文學，他本身也以英語寫作。
《倫敦週日時報》〔The London Sunday Times〕選為"1,000 Makers of the Twentieth Century"，並被譽為”真正的現代非洲文學”與”對世界文學有高度貢獻”。
