Ellen Gilchrist美國文學當代最著名也是最令人敬重的作者之一，其他如優朵拉‧衛爾提(Eudora Welty 1909-2001)、弗蘭娜瑞‧歐康納(Flannery O’Connor 1925 -1964)、伊麗莎白‧史賓瑟(Elizabeth Spencer 1921-)等齊名。
