About the Author/作者介绍： 傑克‧哈吉斯（Jack Higgins）是驚悚小說的大師，他一生一共出版了六十多本驚悚類小說，被英國媒體譽為最賣座的作家。本名是Harry Patterson。1929年出生在北愛爾蘭的首府貝爾法斯特一個有政治背景的家庭，年輕時就歷經不少北愛不曾止息的政教爭端，以後作品中多北愛衝突的描寫，其來有致。後來他搬到里茲，書沒唸完就輟學，打不少零工，包括在英軍服役兩年，時為冷戰時期，他擔任皇家禁衛團士官，駐防東德邊境。退伍以後，就讀倫敦大學，也在馬戲團、電車上打工。大學畢業，取得社會學學位，在成為全職作家前曾教過書。他在1975發表The Eagle Has Landed（天降雄鷹），奠定名揚國際的暢銷作家地位；在此之前，已經是一位冒險故事作者。他的小說給翻譯成四十種以上文字。他目前與其妻住在英國海峽群島上的澤西。
