English Summary/英文概要： TWISTED WING is written with enviable control, with sustained tension and psychological depth and after many gasp-inducing twists, has a devilishly clever ending. It begins with the discovery of the mutilated corpse of a young woman in a Cambridge college and then cuts to an interview two months later between Olivia Corscadden, the student who found the body, and a forensic psychiatrist. Through a series of these conversations, Olivia recounts her time at the college, and how she came to know the victim, and, as it emerges, two previous victims. With each interview, the air of menace builds, to a point where Olivia’s complicity in the crimes begins to appear certain. But why, and if so, to what degree is she involved and was it willingly?
The descriptions of college life at the start of the novel are unbelievably accurate, but above all it is the psychological acuity that I think sets this novel apart. The sessions between Olivia and her psychiatrist are riveting, and the pace that propels you forward.
