She got a PhD in Pharmacy granted by the Complutense University of Madrid. She also was awarded an Extraordinary Mention of Doctorate for her doctoral thesis on therapy during the Habsburg Spain. She specializes in alchemic, superstitious and therapeutic aspects of the Modern Age Spain. She has written three books, which are a very good reference due to their complete documentation and accuracy: El Hechizado (The Bewitched); Medicina, alquimia y superstición en la Corte de Carlos II (Medicine, alchemy and superstition at the Court of Charles II, Madrid, 1998); Los amantes del arte sagrado (Lovers of sacred art, Madrid, 2000); and Los señores del fuego. Destiladores y espagíricos en la corte de los Austrias (Lords of fire. Distillers and Spagyrists at the Habsburg Court, Madrid, 2002)
