HOW TO DRIVE A TANK: And other skills every man should have
Book ID/图书代码: 12100008B23700
English Summary/英文概要: When you get to a certain age, you’re expected to stick to the script: to buy the sensible car with its hybrid engine, join the golf club, work hard for promotion. . . .but don’t you remember, deep down inside when you had no interest in house prices, school catchment areas and going carbon-neutral? What happened to the young man who loved PJ O’Rourke’s essay How to drive fast on drugs, while getting your wing-wang squeezed, without spilling your drink at the same time?
Frank Coles reveals how you can be the man you’ve always wanted to be.
Say goodbye to the under-sexed and over-the-hill guy you see in the shaving mirror, and discover the practical skills a real man should have: from hot-wiring cars to how to tie a bow tie, how to get a gun in any city in the world, to how to mix great cocktails – this book will tell you everything they don’t want you to know.
Are you holding in your stomach right now?
About to sign a massive loan for an Aston Martin?
Might have to confess to your wife that you slept with that new girl in accounts?
If so, your mid-life crisis has begun.
People are left directionless, with a sense that time is running out.
Depending on whose data you believe, up to 80 per cent of men aged 40–60 experience some form of ‘midlife crisis’. It is triggered by many things: physical signs of ageing, increased consciousness of mortality and – most commonly – the events that often dominate middle age: divorce, children leaving home, career stagnation, illness or the death of a spouse or parent.
How to Drive a Tank is the antidote to self-help books.
So politically incorrect it’s bound to cause comment, How to Drive a Tank will include tips, articles and guides on how to live the dream of including (of course) how to cradle-snatch and why you should always buy a shiny new sports car. Armed with this book, you can turn things around and have the best mid-life crisis ever. Discover how to have your cake, car, curvy cutie – and eat which ever one you want.

About the Author/作者介绍: Frank Coles had his first mid-life crisis at the age of eight when he realised that one day he really was going to die. In his twenties he worked on developing TV formats with the author of The Quartersomething Crisis (the midlife crisis for those under the age of 40) and then had a career crisis about TV. He trained to Masters level in Science and Computing, before coming to his senses and began writing and travelling under his own name. Since then he has written a novel, edited two books and been published by lots of household names. He’s travelled the world, trekked through jungles, skied to the North Pole and gotten to know his family again. He firmly believes we could all do with a little more crisis in our lives.
