DINAH LEE KUNG was born in Detroit, educated at the University of California, worked for twenty years as a reporter in the Far East, including stints as staff correspondent for THE ECONOMIST in Hong Kong, Hong Kong BUREAU bureau chief for BUSINESS WEEK, and contributor to THE WASHINGTON POST, INTERNATIONAL HWRALD TRIBUNE and National Public Radio. She won the Overseas Press Club’s 1991 award for Beat Reporting on Human Rights from Abroad. She now lives in Switzerland with her husband, a veteran of the International Red Cross, and their three children.
