After writing down his experiences in an effort to exorcise his demons, Geoff discovered a flair for writing. Within a few short years his work found a cult following all over the world.

This is the story of an ordinary man who faced his fears and took himself from bedsit to bestseller but very nearly got killed on the way.

Geoff Thompson made violence his profession working as a doorman at some of Britain’s roughest clubs. As the holder of the rank of 6th Dan black belt in Japanese karate, 1st Dan in Judo and equally well qualified in other martial arts he is a TOUGH man. As well as many books he has written a film script, Watch My back, based on his life and a stage play, One Sock, that inspired The Royal Court Theatre in London’s West End to invite him into their exclusive writers’ group. WATCH MY BACK is his account of nine years as a doorman and bouncer, of living with the ever present fear of going too far and killing someone in any of the 300 violent and bloody confrontations.

About the Author/作者介绍： A cult hero, Geoff Thompson has been an expert on violence (after the publication of his memoir Watch My Back) and one of Britain’s leading martial artists with an international reputation as a teacher of self-defence (Black Belt magazine in the USA polled him as the number one martial arts author in the world today). Having grown up in a working-class environment with few opportunities, he has transformed himself into an award-winning film maker and best-selling author, and now offers inspirational advice to others in his self-help books. Watch My Back, which recounts the story of his nine years working as a night club doorman, inspired the feature film Clubbed to be released in late 2008.
His articles have been published in GQ magazine, The Independent, The Guardian, The Times, The Mirror, The Daily Express and The Evening Standard. For two years he was a contributing editor to Men’s Fitness magazine. He has been featured in FHM and Loaded and interviewed on mainstream television and national radio on shows such as Richard & Judy, Talk Radio and BBC Radio One.
His short film Bouncer was nominated for a BAFTA in 2003, nominated at the Edinburgh Film Festival for the Best Short Film category and highly commended at the Raindance Festival and TCM; it was subsequently sold to Film 4, and screened in Berlin and Toronto. Following this success, Ray Winstone agreed to executive produce Thompson’s second short film, Brown Paper Bag, which premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival, was nominated for the Royal Television Society Award and won the BAFTA 2004 for Best Short Film.
