Awards/获奖情况:Married couple and co-writers of Simply Green, David Seligman, an active-duty U.S. serviceman, and his wife, Melissa, a full-time homemaker, examine every aspect of life with tips on how to make adjustments for a more earth-friendly approach to living.
Topics include how to teach children about living green, choosing houseplants to help purify the air, and reducing energy use of appliances.
The Seligmans offer sound advice and intersteing statistics, such as a recent report from the U.S. Department of Energy nothing that a traditional fireplace with a fire can blow as much as 24,000 cubic feet of air per hour straight outside your house. This means that warm air is traveling out your chimney and is being replaced with cold air.
And for the holidays, one recycling and solid waste management company reveals that if every American family chose to wrap just three gifts in newspaper or magazines rather than wrapping paper during the holidays, it would save enough paper to cover 45,000 football fields.
