Everything is calm at Placid Pond and the frogs, who think they are fish, have all the food and peace they need and never venture beyond the shore. But day after day the pond gets smaller and frogs begin to bicker though never coming up with a solution. Some are moaners; others are irate defeatists; some are champions of tradition while others are procrastinators.
Amidst this medley of characters is Lara, the inquisitive frog who likes to talk to other animals, ask questions and heed replies. She will be the first to bounce out of the pond, discover that she can breathe outside the water and realise that, by exploring the world, we can indeed find what suits us best. It doesn’t matter how far we have to move – the journey is a learning experience but the final destination is up to us.
Chinese Summary/中文概要： 有個寧靜平和的池塘住著一群青蛙，這群青蛙把自己當成魚，認為他們只要一輩子留在池塘中就能好了，因為這池塘暨安穩又有很多食物，何必須要到外面岸上冒險，可是日子一天天過，池塘裡的水也開始慢慢減少，青蛙們開始慌張的起來，七嘴八舌的吵了起來，不過始終找不出解決的辦法。有些青蛙則開始每天抱怨，有些則是自怨自哀了起來，還有些是趁大家還搞不清楚狀況時偷偷藏了許多食物。
不過在這群青蛙當中有隻叫Lara，她的反應卻跟大家都不一樣。由於她對所有事都充滿好奇，常和池塘邊其他的動物聊天，久久而之她早就不認為池塘是世界的全部，所以當池塘一沒有水時，她將是第一個離開池塘到外面世界冒險的青蛙，她也將發現原來這個世界比她想像的還要大，還要充滿機會。
作者利用這個簡單的寓言故事告訴我們如何跨出重要的一步，更重要的是不管走多遠，旅途的過程將會不斷讓我們成長，而最終的目標一定能由我們實現。(VL)
