Ann Pearlman has created a buzz with two previous books. The first, Infidelity, was a memoir that received a red star review in PW, went on to be nominated for both the Pulitzer and National Book Award, and was made into a Lifetime TV movie. Ann ended up being on the cover of the London Observer magazine and appeared on all major talk shows, including Oprah. Her second, Inside the Crips, the story of a member of the LA gang and largely set in California prisons, brought attention of a different sort when her subject and co-author was subsequently arrested for a crime, and the book and Ann both subpoenaed as evidence, the extraordinary use of a book considered part of an inquisition and character assassination.
