After being rescued from an abusive situation, Rudy was adopted out and returned multiple times over a three-year period, bouncing in and out of foster homes due to his challenging doggie issues. Corinne found him at the Friends of Animal s Furburbia adoption center in Park City, Utah. Rudy is a diamond in the ruff. He makes me laugh, stretches my patience, inspires me and brings me much joy, says Corinne. It makes me wonder, who rescued whom?

(In fact, that’s what my Nelly is: about 8 inches off the ground, and she kisses me a lot.) I’ve just finished reading a book that fits that description, too. It’s The Tao of Rudy, a charming picture book by Corinne Humphrey. Bright, happy paintings on every page illustrate the great wisdom bestowed by a dog like Rudy, a cream-and-white shelter mutt who had had a hard life before finally knowing patience, and repaying it with love. The Zen simplicity of his lessons: Play every day; Don’t be afraid to leave the path;--will be appreciated by children, but I suspect it’s us jaded grown-ups who really need to sit with them a while. Here’s yet another example, this time between hard covers, of the joyful places dogs will take us, if only we let them. It’s that simple. And that sweet. --Fetchdog Web site

About the Author/作者介绍： Corinne Humphrey is a freelance writer and photographer and the author of the book, Camping, by Western Publishing. Her work has appeared in many regional and national magazines including Air France, Sunset, Cooking Light, Women’s Health & Fitness, Elle and Wall St. Journal Weekend. She now adds the titles of illustrator and publisher to her resume with the release of her children’s book, The Tao of Rudy, the first in a series of Rudy books and winner of a BRONZE Medal in Independent Publisher’s annual IPPY Awards competition for "Most Outstanding Book Design."
