BARBIE: ALL DOLLED UP: CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF BARBIE
Book ID/图书代码: 01585008B28673
English Summary/英文概要: In 2009, Barbie turns fifty. Hard to believe, considering how well she’s aged, but in that time the doll has touched the lives of countless little girls — girls who are now women with an abiding sense of nostalgia for their little plastic friend. Pulling together the best memories and moments and pairing them with shimmering visuals and exciting design, All Dolled Up will celebrate five decades of Barbie history — which so often mirrors our own — in full-color, fabulous style.
Inside, the book will be broken into chapters according to key eras in Barbie’s development — her 1959 debut, the Mod Era, the Malibu Barbie decade, the big-bold ’80s, the Totally Hair ’90s, and so on — providing basic structure and a way to organize fun facts about the doll. In each chapter, a running narrative will combine chronology and memory, weaving a thread between bright images and poignant quotes from moms and daughters, from Hollywood celebrities, and from noted fashion stylists and designers including Diane Von Furstenberg, Tarina Tarantino, Bob Mackie, and many others, all of whom recall a point in their lives when Barbie played a starring role.
All Dolled Up will also include an assortment of interactive features and rare artwork. Mattel has granted becker&mayer! special access to its archives, and has put us in touch with major Barbie collectors from around the world, affording us terrific imagery. Original 1960s doll packaging, old Barbie comic books, designers’ sketches, and much more will be reproduced both as flat art and as three-dimensional pieces.
All Dolled Up will be a vibrant, interactive celebration not just of a doll, but of a feeling: the little bit of “Barbie Girl” in all of us.
