About the Author/作者介绍： Neil Sheehan joined The New York Times in the Sixties. He became the newspaper’s Pentagon correspondent and then began reporting on the White House. In the Seventies, he obtained the Pentagon Papers, which brought the Times the Pulitzer Prize Gold Medal for meritorious public service.
Sheehan was awarded a Pulitzer Prize in 1989, and a National Book Award for his last book, a riveting work entitled A Bright Shining Lie. It tells about the life of Lieutenant Colonel John Paul Vann and the United States’ involvement during the Vietnam War. The publisher was Random House (USA). The book was also successfully published in Japan by Shueisha Publishing; in the UK by Jonathan Cape; and in France by Editions Du Seuil.
