About the Author/作者介绍： Cate Kennedy1963年出生，先後在墨爾本大學等多所大學任教。教授創意寫作，而後專職於寫作各類經典作品。Cate因短篇小說出名，可說是澳洲文壇短篇小說獲獎的常勝作者，從1994起到2004年，每年都因短篇小說得獎。2000、2001年兩次獲得澳大利亞時代短篇小說競賽（The Age short story competition）第一名。短篇小說《Dark Roots》獲得澳洲文學界金獎提名，此作品也在當時登載於紐約雜誌。其他獲獎小說包括《Sing and Don’t Cry》《Joyflight》《Signs of Other Fires》均榮獲維多利亞總督文學獎。
Cate還包括：HQ-Sceptre短篇小說大獎（HQ-Sceptre Short Story Award），Sisters in Crime國際性女性文學組織舉辦的Scarlet Stiletto短篇小說獎（Scarlet Stiletto short story prize），及坎培拉大學短篇小說獎。是一位影響全球眾多讀者的澳洲經典作家。
