MAS ALLA DEL CARACOL(FARTHER THAN THE SEASHELL)

We normally are inclined to think that death is the end – an unavoidable and imposed ending with no other option. However, in the case of David, this is only the beginning because shortly after dying he does not find the emptiness that he always figured existed. Rather, he only observes an old man who makes him a unique proposal: the stranger will let David choose his path beyond death if David is capable of telling him what has been the biggest mistake of his life – the error from which all other mistakes have emanated. David decides to narrate to his journey through the world, during which he discovers little by little that sometimes nothing is what it appears, not even death.

Daniel Atienza manages to construct a story that deals with existential crisis and the result is this wonderful, very intimate novel that is capable of touching all readers in some manner. The direct, reader-friendly language of the book further aids in transmitting the intense and profound message that we seek in the books that really matter.

(ZH)
