John Hitchox and Philippe Starck formed Yoo in April 1999. Bringing together a team of leaders in their fields, they set out to create extraordinary modern living spaces. “It was only a matter of time before Starck set about creating entire homes, with characteristic originality,” The Times (UK) said when Yoo launched. Over the past ten years Yoo has been working across the world with international partners on a variety of landmark buildings and large residential projects throughout Asia, Australia, Europe, North and South America, and the Middle East. Currently Yoo is involved in the development of more than 25,000 apartments valuing over $10 billion in over 25 countries worldwide. Each of their projects receive $700,000 worth of coverage. The year 2007 saw a total of $9 million editorial coverage and $6 billion in gross sales revenues. The brand is represented by five core design teams – Yoo inspired by Starck, Jade Jagger for Yoo, Wanders for Yoo, the Yoo design studio headed by Mark Davison, and most recently Kelly Hoppen for Yoo; all of whom increase sales values through design and sales velocity through branded marketing and maximizing media exposure.
John Hitchox is one of Europe’s most innovative design-based property developers. He co-founded the Manhattan Loft Corporation, credited with establishing loft living in London and profoundly influencing the residential market at the heart of one the world’s major cities.
