About the Author/作者介绍： Rick Gekoski，出生於美國，隨後到英國牛津攻讀碩士學位，完成後便留在英國Warwick大學教授英國文學直到1987年。1982年他因為喜愛閱讀，開始投入珍本書及手稿的買賣。在英國BBC廣播電台的節目中述說自己在這一行所遇到的奇人軼事，深受聽眾喜愛，也促成了《托爾金的袍子》（Tolkien’s Gown and other stories of great authors and rare books）一書的出版。二○○五年時曾擔任英國布克獎評審。
