THE NATURAL NAVIGATOR

Land, sea and sky will soon be coming together as ancient and modern travellers journey together without a SatNav in sight.

Starting with a simple question – ‘Which way am I looking?’ – “The Natural Navigator” blends natural science, myth and the history of travel, to introduce you to the rare and ancient art of natural navigation. The book looks at how ancient and modern travellers have found their way using nature’s own signposts, including the sun, stars and moon, the weather, sea and land, plants and animals.

The Natural Navigator explains why some trees grow the way they do and how to use them to find your own way in the countryside. It shares the night sky with the ancient Greeks and Pacific Islanders and explores the ways they used the stars to find direction. It describes how the sun can point the way and even how to find north by looking at a puddle.

Wonderfully detailed and full of fascinating stories and methods, this is a glorious exploration of a rediscovered art.

Chinese Summary/
(VL)
