English Summary/英文概要： In the wake of Napoleon’s failed invasion of England, and despite their heroism against his forces in fighting to protect Britain’s shores, Captain Will Laurence and his dragon Temeraire are banished to the nascent prison colony at New South Wales, Australia, to remove their influence from the British dragons and aerial forces. Their arrival at the colony causes a major shift in the balance of power, and Laurence and Temeraire are soon approached by both sides to take up their cause. Primary among the petitioners is one William Bligh, recently deposed as military governor of the colony and now plotting his return from the island of Tasmania. Charged with finding a way through the Blue Mountains and into the interior of Australia, Laurence and Temeraire are off instead on a great adventure when an unhatched dragon egg is stolen from Temeraire’s care. Following the trail of the egg leads them to an unsuspected smuggling operation and uncovers a new twist in the ever-expanding war between Napoleon and Britain.

About the Author/作者介绍： Naomi Novik is the acclaimed author of His Majesty’s Dragon, Throne of Jade, Black Powder War, and Empire of Ivory, the first four volumes of the Temeraire series, recently optioned by Peter Jackson, the Academy Award-winning director of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. A history buff with a particular interest in the Napoleonic era, Novik studied English literature at Brown University, then did graduate work in computer science at Columbia University before leaving to participate in the design and development of the computer game Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide.
