About the Author/作者介绍： Screenplay writer, radio speaker, theatre writer, cook, Donato Carrisi was born in Martina Franca (Ta). After graduating from high school, he tours the United States along with two friends. They pay their vacation cooking Italian traditional dishes in the houses of nostalgic Italian immigrants. That is how he puts into practice the gift for cooking he has inherited from his grandmother, who was a cook.
Eight months later he starts Law studies and founds the Vivarte Theatre Group. In the next six years, while attending University, he writes and performs three plays, two musicals and a crime novel. His pathologic, mean and ruthless theatre draws the attention of critics who award the 2000 Premio Vallecorsi to his musical monologue “Il Fumo di Guzman”. In 1997 he graduates in Bari with a thesis on Luigi Chiatti, the Monster of Foligno, dealing with an unknown figure in the Italian crime law: the serial killer. Hi research is voted best experimental thesis for the academic year ’97-’98 by the Fondazione Nuove Proposte. A strong attraction for the study of crime drives him to specialize at the Criminology and Behavioral Sciences School.
The Vivarte Group disbands. Theatre is a difficult environment and a future as jurist and lawyer seems to be in store for Donato, but in November 1999 he meets film producer Achille Manzotti, who detects this twenty six year old writer’s narrative talent and asks him to co-write the TV series “Casa Famiglia” for RAI – the Italian National TV. Totaling eight million viewers and an average 30% share, Casa Famiglia is one of the year’s hits. RAI commissions a second series, for which he writes the subjects of every episode of “Bibbia”, along with the script of eight of its twelve episodes. Once again, the viewing figures reward the series. In 2003, Rai 1 is ready to commission “Casa Famiglia”’s third series. Pretending to celebrate the event, he cooks for Manzotti and, thanks to a rosin roast, he convinces him to abandon such series in order to develop new projects. In search of ideas, he goes to London to attend Arista Development’s scriptwriting courses. He studies “Romantic Comedy” with Stephen Cleary and “Structure in Thriller” with Simon Van der Borg. In the same period, he spends a week in Bruges to attend chef Antoin Michel Vousseriet’s seminar on “sauces and spices.”
In 2004 he is awarded the Solinas Award (Storie per il Cinema) for “Il Croupier Nero”. In the following year, he once again gets shortlisted for “Falene”. He acts as story editor for several fiction productions and in 2005 he starts working for Pietro Valsecchi’s TaoDue production company.
He writes the script of “Nassiriya”, which will be broadcasted in 2007. In 2007, he writes the subject and script of the miniseries “Era mio fratello” for RAI 1 and he gets together again with Achille Manzotti. After the series “Squadra Antimafia” – currently in production – and his first script for a movie – “Occhi Buoni,” directed by Gennaro Nunziante – he is now closing his miniserie “Io ho un sogno” and is writing a series which will be aired in the near future by Fox Italia: “Criminal Sisters”.
And, in view of a cooking contest in Viareggio, he is also perfecting the recipe of “Shellfish and fruits on a salted sponge cake”.
