Some parents read to their child each night, creating a lovely ritual that the child looks forward to for many years to come, until it inevitably embarrasses them. Other parents know the value of reading aloud but elect to park their child in front of the television where they engage in stories that are an empty mimicry of the world around us. And theres the parent who has no time for their child, and no interest in reading books at night or any other time. Maybe these sound like distinctive stereotypes, and they do exist as such, but it is also possible that these parents are all the same person, at different moments in their lives.
