About the Author/作者介绍： John Brown，1948年出生於德國，是英國石油公司（BP，British Petroleum）前首席執行官。1966年以大學實習生身份加入英國石油公司。1987年，英國石油與標準石油合併後，任標準石油開發公司首席執行官。兩年後，任總部設在倫敦的英國石油勘探公司執行董事兼首席執行官。1991年，進入英國石油公司董事會任執行董事，1995～2007年間出任首席執行長。
目前擔任國際能源公司Riverstone LLC的合夥人、英國皇家科學院的成員及英國泰德現代美術館Tate Gallery的主席。1998年英國女王生日典禮上獲授騎士，2001年受封為勛爵。
