English Summary/英文概要： Bul-Boo and Madillo, identical twins, live in Zambia, the butterfly shaped country in the heart of Africa. Life in Zambia is not always what it appears to be. We meet the twins on a mission to save their friend Winifred who, in accordance with an ancient tradition, is about to be married off to an old man. Bul-Boo, the more rational of the twins, and Madillo, whose world is peopled by spirits of all shapes and sizes, have only a few weeks to save their friend. They call on their old friend Ifwafwa, the Snake Man for help. He is a wise and thoughtful man who has two gifts: he tells wondrous tales and he has a way with snakes. He rides around Zambia on an old black bike enticing snakes out of houses. No one knows how he does this as no one is allowed to watch. Bul-Boo and Madillo know that if anyone can save Winifred it is him. He does not fail them. As the tale unfolds, filled with hope, myth and magic, Bul Boo finds her view of the world shifting. If Winifred is to be saved from the old man Bul-Boo has to accept that not everything in life can be explained by science and reason.

眼看好友結婚的日子一步步接近，她們最後只好找求助另一個好友Ifwafwa，這位村裡人稱「蛇人」的智者，除了瞭解許多古老的傳說故事外，也對「蛇」很有一套，擅長用「蛇」來解決村裡的大小事。
最後她們是否能成功救出好友Winifred，，而如果她真被救出，那Bul-Boo要如何面對眼前科學無法解釋的事情呢？(Vincent)

About the Author/作者介绍： Paula Leyden，1958年生於肯亞(Kenya)。五歲時搬到尚比亞(Zambia)，15歲時又舉家搬遷到南非，最後在那完成大學學業。畢業後先在當地開普頓小學教書，之後離開學校後全心投入人權運動的工作並參與「南非：真相與和解委員會」(Truth and Reconciliation Commission)。2003年與朋友及小孩搬到愛爾蘭Kilkenny的一座農場，目前他們所居住的地方。
