English Summary/英文概要： An evocative story of love and lies set against the turmoil of post-revolutionary Tehran. Layla meets Keyvan, a struggling artist, and falls in love with him. But Layla’s family have plans for her to marry a wealthy young man from a good family. Layla and Keyvan meet in secret, afraid of being discovered by the komiteh, the morality police. When Keyvan proposes to Layla, she decides to tell her parents about their relationship. But then Sara, her cousin, is arrested at a raid on a teenage party and is held for questioning because of her family’s dissident past. She is finally freed, but with devastating consequences for Layla and her family. Beneath the polished surface of middle class Iranian life lies pain, fear and dark, dark secrets.

About the Author/作者介绍： 作者出生于1977年，母亲是英国人，父亲是伊朗人，她住过伊朗、巴基斯坦、孟加拉国和印度尼西亚。她是伦敦大学学院法律系一级荣誉生，有7年的法律经验。 路易斯（Louise）已婚，育有一个一岁的儿子，住在伊朗萨里。这是她的第一部小说。 Born in 1977 to an English mother and Iranian father, she has lived in Iran, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Indonesia. She has a first class honours in law from UCL and practised law in the City for seven years. Louise is married, with a one year old son, and lives in Surrey. This is her debut novel
