Very Good Butter was a finalist for the Hugh MacLennan Prize for Fiction and he has twice been a finalist in the annual Prism International contest. His stories have appeared in This Magazine, Canadian Forum, the Ottawa Citizen, and the London Spectator, as well as in the Journey Prize Anthology. John Lavery lives in Gatineau, Quebec.
