As the only child in a dysfunctional family, she is torn between a fragile mother and a father who excels in putting a happy face on his misery. Behind the dark curtains of their apartment, Lou formulates theories to try to comprehend her world. In a Parisian train station she meets No, a young homeless girl, barely older than herself, dirty, tough and withdrawn. Lou finds an echo to her own questions in this lonely, love-deprived girl and refuses to accept the fatality of her situation. Things don’t have to be this way. People don’t have to sleep in the street, stand in line just for a warm meal or walk aimlessly so they don’t freeze.

Lou decides to help No, give her a family and a home and, in doing so, embarks on a wide-scale humanitarian endeavour against the fatality of homelessness, in the idealist hope that everyone may find their place in the world.

No et moi is more than adolescent idealism confronted with reality, it is the struggle of a gifted child who has grown up too fast in an unforgiving world and who still wants to believe a dream can come true.
