Hamid Dabashi is Hagop Kevorkian Professor of Iranian Studies and Comparative Literature at Columbia University. His books include Theology of Discontent: The Ideological Foundation of the Islamic Revolution in Iran; Post-Orientalism: Knowledge and Power in a Time of Terror; and Authority in Islam among other works. The editors of this compendium, Andrew Davison and Himadeep Muppidi, are colleagues in the Political Science Department at Vassar College, where Davison is professor and chair of the department and Muppidi is an associate professor.
