Patrícia Melo is a novelist, scriptwriter and playwright. In 1999 Time included her among their fifty ’Latin American Leaders for the New Millennium’. She is the author of eight novels including: THE KILLER (1995), nominated for the Prix Fémina (France 1996) and winner of the Deux Océans (France 1996) and the Deutscher Krimi-Preis - Best Foreign Work (Germany 1998) prizes; INFERNO (2000), winner of the Jabuti Prize for Best Novel of the Year; THE BLACK WALTZ (2003), nominated for the IMPAC Award (Ireland 2005); LOST WORLD; JONAH THE COPROMANT (2008), nominated for the Telecom Portugal Prize 2008.
