English Summary/英文概要： The Light of Amsterdam, takes place in Amsterdam over one weekend. It focuses on three characters each of whom have reached a tipping point in their relationships, each heading out of Belfast on the same weekend flight.
There is a mother who has struggled to bring her daughter up alone, working long hard hours as an office cleaner and care home assistant. As she heads to Amsterdam for her daughter’s hen weekend she begins to have an uncomfortable feeling (aided also by the Indian costume that she has been coerced into wearing) that her daughter might not fully appreciate the sacrifices that she has made in her life.
There is a couple who have worked their whole lives together to build up a garden nursery business and are having an anniversary weekend away in Amsterdam. Something is not quite right about their relationship. Something has been broken and needs to be mended.

About the Author/作者介绍： 大卫•帕克著有数部小说作品，其最近一部作品《诚实的委员》可谓饱受赞誉。他曾获有作家俱乐部“首部小说作品奖”、巴斯爱尔兰艺术奖文学奖、并三次荣获阿尔斯特大学颁发的马克利亚文学奖。作者曾两次入围爱尔兰年度小说。作者现与其妻子和两个孩子居住在北爱尔兰唐郡。
David Park has written seven books, most recently the hugely acclaimed The Truth Commissioner. He was the winner of the Authors’ Club First Novel Award, the Bass Ireland Arts Award for Literature and three-times winner of the University of Ulster’s McCrea Literary Award. He has twice been shortlisted for the Irish Novel of the Year Award. He lives in County Down, Northern Ireland with his wife and two children.
